Back to Church History
Church Administration & Management
According to a recent survey among Lutherans, not all parents practice what they preach:

59% of parents require their children under age eighteen to attend church, synagogue or other religious services.
91% of parents who attend consistently require their children to attend, but 19% of those who rarely or never attend require their children to go anyway.
According to a survey, Americans depend most on parents to form religious beliefs:

64% said their parents most influenced them,
9% said their friends,
7% said no one had any influence,
6% said a clergy member or a spouse,
5% said another family member most influenced them.
People sixty-five years and above most often credited a parent (71%), while people in their twenties were most likely to credit a friend (13%). Those who did not participate in church at all were most likely to say no one influenced them (16%).
